Surface Piped Filtration Systems
Surface piping filtration systems are a special filtration method used in water and liquid purification processes. Filtration in these systems is based on the principle of cleaning water by passing through the surface of thin pipes or tubular membranes. Surface piping filters are often used in membrane technologies such as microfiltration, ultrafiltration and nanofiltration.
The Working Principle of Surface Piped Filtration Systems:
Tubular Membranes: The system consists of hollow tubular membranes. Filtration takes place by applying water or liquid to the outer surface of these pipes.
Filtration Process: The liquid is pumped to the outer surface and moves to the inner part of the pipes under high pressure. At this time, the pore structure of the membrane prevents the passage of particles, microorganisms or pollutants of a certain size.
Recycling of Impurities: Dirty water or unfiltered substances remain on the outer surface of the pipes and are regularly cleaned or removed from the system.
Permeate and Concentrate: While the purified water (permeate) is collected inside the pipes, the concentrated liquid (impurities) left behind is expelled from the system.
Advantages of Surface Piping Filtration Systems:
High Efficiency Filtration: Tubular membranes provide high efficiency filtration and remove harmful substances such as fine particles, bacteria, viruses from the water.
Long Life: Piped membranes are durable even in harsh conditions and provide long-lasting use.
Easy Cleaning: The system can be easily cleaned by backwashing and chemical cleaning processes and its performance can be maintained.
Modular Structure: It has a modular structure whose capacity can be increased or decreased according to the needs.
Suitable for Various Applications: It can be used to treat various water sources, such as seawater, surface water, groundwater and industrial wastewater.
Areas of Use of Surface Piped Filtration Systems:
Drinking Water Production: Surface piped filtration is used to obtain safe drinking water by cleaning surface waters or groundwater.
Wastewater Treatment: In industrial wastewater treatment, it is widely preferred for the recovery of impurities and reuse of water.
Food and Beverage Industry: Used for filtration and purification of liquids; especially preferred in the production of products such as wine, milk and fruit juice.
Petrochemical and Chemical Industry: Such filtration systems are used for the purification, purification and recovery of chemical substances.
Surface Water Treatment: It is used for the treatment of water in rivers, lakes and dams.
Prominent Systems of Surface Piping Filtration Technology:
Microfiltration (MF): It is used to filter particles and microorganisms in the range of 0.1-10 microns.
Ultrafiltration (UF): It is used to trap smaller particles, viruses and colloids. The membrane dimensions are usually between 0.01-0.1 microns.Dec.
Nanofiltration (NF): It is a system that removes ions and small molecules to purify water at a more advanced level. With this technology, more chemical and mineral purification is provided.
Surface piped filtration systems play an important role, especially in industrial and commercial projects aimed at improving water quality.
