The Double-Stage Reverse Osmosis System works on the principle of feeding the water at the output of the Reverse Osmosis System to a second Reverse Osmosis Unit in pure water treatment systems to produce purer water. The Double-Stage Reverse Osmosis System purifies the amount of solids in the water by about 99%.

DPRO Systems are used for the purpose of obtaining the requested product water quality. Therefore, the maximum recovery rate in single-Stage Reverse Osmosis Systems is 80%. This value increases to 90% in a Double-Stage Reverse Osmosis System. As a result of drought and water saving pressures in many regions of the world, DPRO systems are preferred.

Water quality can be improved by using Mixbed Resins. But the operating cost of Mixbed Resin is very high. In this direction, DPRO Systems are the more popular systems for pure water treatment systems due to the inability of the resin to be regenerated, which creates chemicals harmful to the environment.
